Internship opportunity sees UWEC student advocate for rural healthcare at nation's capital

Following the closures of HSHS hospitals in our region, a UW-Eau Claire student followed an intern opportunity that allowed them to advocate for rural healthcare policy in our nation's capital.
Nic Burgdorf, a nursing senior at UWEC, spent the summer in Washington, D.C., as a government affairs and policy intern at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Through the position, Burgdorf said there was a lot to do between sitting through and listening to meetings, going over bills, working on a policy brief and more.
