Eau Claire is in the process of becoming the first county in Wisconsin to be ACT® Work Ready certified. The foundation of a community’s certification is based on individuals at the county level earning an ACT WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate™ (NCRC®) and employers recognizing the NCRC®. The NCRC® is an industry-recognized credential that clearly identifies an individual’s essential workforce skills that are required for 77 percent of jobs.
Representatives from Eau Claire County’s local government, economic development, workforce development, community/technical college, K-12 system, and business/industry are all participating in our efforts to become ACT® Work Ready certified. 62 businesses in Eau Claire County already support and recognize the NCRC®, signifying their dedication to increasing our economic development and workforce satisfaction.
Workforce Resource, Inc. (WRI) is a private non-profit corporation incorporated originally as the West Central Wisconsin Private Industry Council, Inc. in 1983 and has been in continuous operation in the nine county West Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Area since its founding. During that time, WRI has successfully managed the region's Job Training Partnership Act, Workforce Investment Act, numerous programs associated with AFDC and TANF, a variety of state and federal discretionary and demonstration grant programs from multiple state and federal agencies and numerous private foundation and revenue generating projects.
