Amery to pursue housing strategic plan targeting city's top identified need

City officials are drafting a housing strategic plan intended to use every mechanism available to the city to encourage new housing construction, City Administrator Alex Mansfield told the Common Council Sept. 2.
Mansfield said he has been meeting with housing development specialists to review strategies and best practices used by other Wisconsin communities. The effort responds to housing, identified as Amery's number one need under the city's 2045 comprehensive plan, he said.
"Rather than hope that somebody decides to maybe build a house here," Mansfield said the city is working to be proactive in developing housing that fits Amery's character.
