UW-Eau Claire — Barron County celebrates its 60th year

On overflow crowd filled the Blue Hills Lecture Hall at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County on Thursday as a celebration of the 60th year of the local campus began the fall series of Thursdays at the U lecture series.
The campus opened with an enrollment of 109 students in September 1966 as the Barron County Campus of Stout State University. It later became UW Center – Barron and then UW-Barron County after which each of the two-year centers were aligned with a four-year university.
To mark the 60th milestone, a panel of four, all well-known at the university, discussed what has and has not changed over the past 60 years. The panelists were former professor emeritus Mary Hoeft, retired senior lecturer Terry Wiesner, former Dean Paul Chase and professor and academic chair Troy Kozma.
