Saturday March 22, marks one year since HSHS St. Joseph’s and HSHS Sacred Heart hospitals closed their doors for good. Wisconsin legislators share where we stand a year later, given that the Chippewa Valley looked a lot different.
In addition to the two hospitals, more than a dozen clinics closed as well.
Wisconsin Senator Jeff Smith says the closures of these healthcare outlets captures something deeper.
“I think this has really shined a light on a system that is broken, it’s a for-profit health system that we live in” Smith said.
