Grassroots Wellness celebrates year of growth, expansion
9 Jun 2017
Since first opening its doors in April 2016, Grassroots Wellness Peer-Run Respite and Learning Community at 820 N Broadway Street in Menomonie has provided support in a home-like environment to more than 100 adults experiencing difficulties due to mental health or substance use-related issues. Workers at the respite provide support based on their own recovery experiences from times of crisis.
With the success of its first year, the organization is expanding to a new space. Grassroots on Main: Community Wellness and Empowerment Center, at 305 Main Street East, will serve as a central office for Comprehensive Community Services (CCS). Peer supporters with lived experience provide one-to-one support to individuals in western Wisconsin with a mental health or substance use diagnosis who are seeking recovery and wellness.
Grassroots on Main will also offer a sober space for the Learning Community to host groups and events. Other organizations and individuals with similar missions may also use the space for meetings and events.
