Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery began as a farmer collective more than a century ago, and has since grown to sell its Wisconsin cheese curds nationwide — all while staying rooted in the city that gave it its name.
Tom Aslin, Sales Director of the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, explains how a local company became a recognizable name to those beyond “America’s Dairyland.”
On the co-op’s Dairyland beginnings
Aslin: “The Ellsworth Cooperative got its official start in 1910 when 30 farmers bought the Milton Dairy Company who had a creamery in East Ellsworth. It was clear early on that the farmers could greatly benefit from working together versus separately, and that cooperative spirit has been crucial in building the Ellsworth business to what it is today.”
