It is no secret that energy production plays a big role in powering homes, keeping machines running and fueling a significant part of the economy.
According to the U.S. Energy information Administration (EIA) total U.S. consumption of energy in 2023 was roughly 94 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) produced by a variety of sources like natural gas, petroleum and renewables. Wisconsin consumed roughly 166 quadrillion Btu in that year.
