Indian spin-off won’t slow Osceola engine plant

While Polaris’ decision to spin off its Indian Motorcycle division raised concerns about local jobs, the company says Osceola’s engine plant isn’t idling anytime soon. Executives say the site will remain a cornerstone of Polaris’ operations, fueling the company’s future growth in snowmobiles and off-road vehicles even as Indian Motorcycle charts its own course.

Polaris announced the acquisition of Indian Motorcycles by Carolwood LP Oct. 13 making the motorcycle business a standalone company expected to close in Q1 of 2026. Indian Motorcycle will bring 900 employees into the new company including engineering, design and manufacturing staff, and Polaris facilities in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Monticello, Minnesota and its design center in Burgdof, Switzerland will move under the new company. However, as a Polaris facility, the Osceola location will remain unaffected.
