Amber Cushing drove a UTV past construction diggers loading dirt and harnessed kids climbing trees Wednesday at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds.

"AI can't do this — there are tons of builders that use AI now, but it's a way to advance what they're doing, and not a way to take over what they're doing," Cushing said.

Her organization, St. Croix Valley Home Builders Association, helped organize the fifth annual Build My Future Wisconsin, an event at the fairgrounds in Glenwood City, Wis. showcasing career paths — skilled trade, manual labor, the construction industry writ large — to a potential future employee base. SCVHBA reported that Build My Future Wisconsin impacts a little more than 6,000 students, many of whom are part of builders associations and technical colleges that bused members to the fairgrounds.
