The Barron County Board of Adjustment granted a special exemption to a Town of Maple Grove maple syrup business to expand.
Andy and Marilyn Humphrey, proprietors of A&M Sugarworks and A&M Pure Maple Syrup, plan to expand one building at 735 16 1/2 St., Dallas, adding on 32-by-48-foot addition to the backside plus a truck loading dock.
“We’re trying to get into more packaging and retail stores,” Andy Humphrey told the board.
Humphrey said that he has been tapping trees since he was a kid and got into the commercial business more than 10 years ago. Since then it has grown steadily. Now A&M deals in all things maple, from supplies like taps and evaporators to finished products, even flavor-infused maple syrups and pancake mixes.
