Education meets innovation as the Mayo Clinic Health System teams up with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, launching the Biomedical Innovator Program to bridge classroom theory with real-world medical breakthroughs for students.
By intersecting these two worlds into one through an educational experience, Mike Carney, interim provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, said opportunities are created for students to work with clinicians at Mayo and their faculty on healthcare problems.
“This program has been in existence for four years,” said Carney. “We admit 10 students every year with a full tuition scholarship… It’s a recruiting initiative for us to help bring students to UW-Eau Claire who have an interest in pursuing a healthcare profession.”
