2015 National Small Business Week
5 May 2015
Small Business, Wisconsin, Economic Development
May 4th through the 8th marks the 52nd National Small Business week in the United States. Small business week celebrates and promotes the 28 million small businesses that exist across the United States. One small business person of the year is selected from nominations across the United States. The finalists attend a national reception in Washington, D.C.
In 2014, the state of Wisconsin housed 441,093 small businesses contributing 1,200,082 jobs to the Wisconsin economy (Source: Wisconsin Small Business Profile). Small businesses also impact our sense of place in the community. Restaurants, clothing, and artisan shops make up a majority of the small businesses offered in our communities. Visit your local chamber of commerce for a list of small businesses in your community, and visit your favorite and new small businesses in your community.
