Eau Claire, WI – Chippewa Valley Technical College has created a basic computer skills course in response to needs in the education and employment sectors. The course is free and available to anyone, anywhere.

Computers touch nearly every education and employment scenario today. Knowing how to log on to a computer, navigate the internet and manage an email account are essential skills for today’s workers and students.

Many individuals throughout Wisconsin lack basic computer skills. People entering college or applying for jobs with little or no computer experience often struggle to comprehend and complete work, reducing success rates.

This course will allow prospective students and job seekers to build relevant computer skills and confidence in their ability that ultimately will help them succeed personally and professionally.

The lessons teach individuals how to better operate computer devices, create documents, manage files, use the internet, explore social media and more. Those using the course can complete one, some, or all of the lessons depending on their needs, and the lessons can be used in any order.

The course is accessible online at www.wisc-online.com under the Computer Skills Course link at the top of the page. CVTC has free Adult Education Service Centers available in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, River Falls and Neillsville with professionals ready to assist anyone wanting to access this free training. If you have questions, call 715-833-6400 or visit www.cvtc.edu/Academics to find a location near you.

Creation of this course was made possible through the INTERFACE Project, funded by a Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration has funded 100% of this project equaling $23.1 million. This is an equal opportunity program. Assistive technologies are available upon request and include Voice/TTY (711 or 800-947-6644).
