This Mine is Fairmount

Mining has been a necessary task for thousands upon thousands of years. Many items used in our daily lives – at work or at home – have been created out of the materials gathered from a mine. In many cases, mining is the only way to retrieve non-renewable resources, or resources that man is unable to make, such as coal, gemstones, clay, natural gas, and many types of metals.

But many people think that mining is a dangerous, unhealthy business that pollutes and harms the environment. This is not always the case. Since the 1970’s, the United States has been working towards a mining operation that is safer and healthier for both the workers and the environment.            Fairmount Santrol, a local mining organization in Western Wisconsin, is committed to having an operation recognized for their sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and operational safety. Furthermore, as investors in Momentum West, Fairmount Santrol shows that their dedication branches beyond the reaches of their company to that of the community.
