26 Oct 2016
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin today announced $1.5 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Labor to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development’s Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards’ (DWD/BAS) to expand apprenticeship opportunities across Wisconsin.
This announcement comes after Senator Baldwin sent a letter of support for DWD/BAS’ grant application.
“Apprenticeship initiatives are one of the most effective vehicles for responding to the workforce readiness needs of business and industry,” said Senator Baldwin. “This funding will help us invest in Wisconsin’s workforce to help us raise incomes and strengthen the middle class.”
DWD/BAS aims to use the funding to create more apprenticeship opportunities for minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, youth and those transitioning from incarceration.
