City exploring options as Lake Wissota Business Park grows

The Chippewa Falls City Council is considering options for a growing Lake Wissota Business Park.

In a closed session the council was slated to discuss possible plans for other land options in the city.

“A lot of businesses are moving in, and we’re going to run out of properties for development,” Mayor Greg Hoffman told the Herald Tuesday. “So we need to be looking what are our options for other land within the city.”

Though no plans have been made, the city is exploring the possibility of creating a tax-increment financing (TIF) district, Hoffman said. Annexing land or working with developers are also options the mayor said the city could consider.

Regardless, Hoffman emphasized, everything is preliminary in an effort to prepare for a possible full future at Lake Wissota Business Park.
