What do you want for the elementary building's future?

Spring Valley Elementary School is showing its age, said District Superintendent Dr. Donald Haack. At a Feb. 5 special meeting, the school board went over the schedule for its planning process and reviewed some of its options for the elementary school.

Haack said it's important to the board to find out what the community wants.

"We want to get all the feedback we can, find out what people want," Haack said. "And hopefully, we can give people what they want."

So far, Haack said, the board has had some very preliminary looks at the school; an architect assessed the facility last summer.

The board has discussed programming it would like to see in the elementary school and met with representatives of the village board, who would like to see the elementary school remain within the village proper.

The district is continuing to seek feedback from the village, as well as from surrounding towns and the public. Community listening sessions are planned.

Haack said the district is working with SDS Architects and Market & Johnson.
