City gives green light to Kwik Trip plans

The morning of Thursday, March 16 was a busy one for both the City and Kwik Trip, Inc. And aside from a few more details to square away, the City has given the LaCrosse-based company the go ahead on a brand new Amery location.

The zoning board met first to approve variances for the proposed signage, followed by a public hearing to review the concept as a whole, a meeting of the planning commission to approve the site plan, and a full council meeting to approve a conditional use permit and final site plan.

There were no negative concerns expressed publicly, although a neighboring residential owner privately expressed concern over heightened noise and activity in the area. Some asked for clarification on background of the project, and a list of perceived pros or cons for the community.
