Meet Nick Jackson, a Young Professional in River Falls

13 May 2018

Nick Jackson, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, is a financial advisor for Edward Jones in River Falls, WI. He was born and raised in River Falls and has a strong connection to the community so, after completing his education, he knew that he wanted to build his career here. Nick has a strong sense of obligation to give back to the community of River Falls by helping families to create a more prosperous financial future. His career is thriving. We wanted to learn more about his success and why he chose to build his career in the Momentum West Region. Here is what he had to say -

Q:    Please describe your business/role as a CFP® and financial advisor.

A:    Edward Jones is a full-service investment firm. I work with clients to understand their goals and comfort with risk, while providing solution-based advice tailored to both. Being a CFP® allows me to have a greater understanding of financial issues that arise for my clients and enables me to address a broader spectrum of their financial needs. The CFP® board ensures I have the necessary education, knowledge, experience, and ethical obligation to act in the interest of my clients as their certified financial planner.

Q:    What inspired you to become a financial advisor?

A:    I grew up watching my father help people accomplish their financial goals as their financial advisor. I knew from a young age that I wanted to follow in his footsteps and make a difference in the lives of others. I continue to be inspired every day through the close relationships I have developed with my clients and their families.

Q:    How has being located here helped you grow your book of business?

A:    My family has lived and worked in River Falls for 30 years, and have become trusted members of the community. Being involved in a small, “close-knit” community has allowed me to form more personal relationships with my clients and I have found that my business reputation has benefited greatly by word of mouth. I have also benefited from being part of the Young Professional group. The YP group is a part of the Chamber of Commerce of River Falls, Hudson, and New Richmond. This group has helped me network across the area by allowing me to meet other young professionals and make connections to help grow my business. The three chambers have done a great job of supporting our group by marketing our events which directs new members to join YP.

Q:    What are your future goals?

A:    I want to continue to help support the people and community of River Falls, which in turn, I hope will expand my business to assist even more people in reaching their financial goals. I also want to continue to give back to the community that has given my family endless support and opportunity. I am in the River Falls Lions Club and on the board of the River Falls Community Foundation. Both of these organizations have allowed me to use my knowledge and skills to support the people of River Falls beyond a business standpoint. I encourage other people of the community to get involved in local clubs and foundations or attend the events that we host to help raise money to improve the town of River Falls.

Q:    Why do you enjoy living here?

A:    I enjoy living in River Falls because it is a community full of honest, hardworking people who genuinely care for and support each other. I enjoy the small town feel of River Falls and the opportunity to work and live here, but I also like the benefits of living within close proximity of the Twins Cities and being able to take advantage of all of the attractions that Minneapolis and St. Paul have to offer. My wife, dog and I love the outdoors and enjoy spending time at the Kinni River, which runs through town and offers many activities such as fly fishing and kayaking. We also enjoy how the community continues to grow and is attracting new businesses, restaurants and great people.

A Bright Future

Nick has a bright future in River Falls. Not only is his career as a financial advisor thriving, he has also found ways to use his talents to benefit the community as a whole. Giving back is not a chore for Nick. Instead, it is something that he is passionate about. As he will tell you, “I am extremely dedicated to helping others and making the community of River Falls a better place. I never take for granted the trust that the community or clients place in me.” This type of civic-minded approach is one that will continue to drive River Falls forward. It is evident in many of the young professionals who have chosen to call the Momentum West region home.
