In fact, the clinic started with such a case. Jennifer Lutz, who helped found the St. Croix Falls office, initially visited the naturopathic doctor at her Osceola practice.

“I became a patient of hers and really had a personal health transformation,” Lutz remembers. “That inspired a career transition for me.”

Lutz had suffered most of her life from irritable bowel. She’d tried changing her diet, drinking ginger tea, using peppermint essential oil. The results never lasted. After visiting Dr. Paulson, she was able to trace the source of her problems to her youth. Frequent ear infections and strep throat had led to frequent use of antibiotics. In addition, her diet included the ‘80s-era version of staples: processed foods and sweets. The combination had led to “gut permeability.” Her body had learned to treat food as a foreign invader.
