The new leader of HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and the HSHS system’s western Wisconsin division, including HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, was appointed to the position and informed about the transfer just the week before.

Andrew J. Bagnall will officially begin as CEO and president of the Eau Claire hospital Feb. 5, and called the Chippewa Falls hospital—which he will also oversee—a “critical component” to the system’s future.

Bagnall, formerly the CEO of a “185-bed nonprofit community hospital” in Sheboygan, according to HSHS St. Nicholas’ website, is crossing the state to take up the position. Julie Manas, former Sacred Heart CEO, left the position Jan. 9.

Bagnall has met several Chippewa Valley leaders and board members in recent days, and believes the transition to new leadership will be smooth.
