Local retailers keeping our community safe

Across Wisconsin, agencies and coalitions partner with local law enforcement in using a state-wide campaign, called WI Wins, to support the decline of tobacco related diseases. The research-based campaign aims to reduce youth access to tobacco with a positive reinforcement strategy for businesses and clerks that not sell tobacco and nicotine products to minors.

WI Wins (www.wiwins.org) contracts with local partners to conduct county-wide investigations of retailer compliance with the law and congratulate local clerks who do not sell tobacco to youth, while providing education to those who do.

Arbor Place, Inc., based in Menomonie, is the WI Wins contractor for Dunn County. The following establishments for passing recent compliance checks. All establishments listed below required the 17-year-old female volunteer to present an ID when attempting to purchase tobacco/nicotine products and then did not sell to her: Colfax: Kyle’s Market, Outhouse Bar, Whitetail Golf and The Blind Tiger Bar & Grill (formerly Bucksnort); Sand Creek: Lakeland Coop; Elk Mound: Private Pleasures.
