It’s been a life long dream of Bobby Penders to run his own repair and service shop.

June 4 he opened BP Motorsports in Osceola, just south of the village center in the former Denny’s Auto. By month’s end, the shop was full of ATVs and dirt bikes.

“The first couple weeks were kind of slow but its really starting to pick up,” he said in late June.

After seven years working at a different repair shop, he recently resolved to build his own legacy.

“I realized it was time,” he said. “I had already been doing a lot of this stuff on the side on my own. […] Lately it became more and more, and I had other work I brought home from dirt bike races. It started to pile up and I went, ‘Oh man, I need a shop.’”

A friend in the dirt bike racing community, Colin Hastings, alerted him to a recently-vacated shop in Osceola. Denny’s had moved to a larger shop north of town on Highway 35.

Penders does a lot of engine repair, but can also rebuild suspension and shock absorbers. He’ll tackle just about any vehicle outside of cars and lawn equipment. That includes boats, motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides, snowmobiles and dirt bikes.
