Mosaic Telecom Marketing Manager is a Young Professional Growing Her Career in the Momentum West Region

17 Sep 2018

Megan Maikowski is a local young professional and the Marketing Manager for Mosaic Telecom. Mosaic Telecom is the area’s local Internet, TV, Telephone and IT services provider. As the Marketing Manager, her job is to market their services while doing community outreach to engage with the public in the communities they serve. We wanted to know why she chose a career in marketing and what inspired her to do so in the Momentum West region.

What inspired you to go into marketing?

Growing up I did not know what major I wanted to pursue, but I did know a few things that I wanted to be able to do with whichever major I chose: 1. Be able to help others and 2. be creative and active in the process of doing #1.

When I finally decided on a major, I chose Public Relations with a minor in Marketing. I feel that Marketing is the heart of a business. Without it, it is hard to grow or take the next direction.

Why did you choose to work for Mosaic Telecom? What do you like about working here?

I have worked in the rural telecom industry in various ways in the past 8 years and when the opportunity for this job came about, I loved the idea of moving back to where I grew up while continuing to work in the rural telecom industry.

Tell us a little bit about the company.

Mosaic Telecom is a multi-faceted provider of quality telecommunications products and services, including Internet, video entertainment, landline telephone and IT services. Headquartered in Cameron, Wisconsin, Mosaic Telecom provides service to both residential and business customers in a large portion of northwestern Wisconsin. Widely recognized as a leader in the rural telecommunications industry, Mosaic Telecom has been in business for 60 years.

Why did you choose to build your career in this community?

I grew up in Chetek, and after living in Colorado Springs, Co, I grew to miss the small town field and the great relationships that can be made in smaller communities

How has being located here helped you grow personally or professionally?

Over the past 3.5 years at Mosaic, I have been able to develop great community partnerships. For example, the partnerships formed before, and then built upon, after the 2017 Tornado.

Have you received any assistance from the community or support by being part of the Young Professional group?

There has been great support for the YP group, which is fantastic! There are so many Young Professionals in this and surrounding communities that having an organization to connect them is key.

 What are your future goals?

To grow the Young Professional group. I encourage everyone, including students, to attend one of our meetings and to join.

You mentioned being excited about the opportunity to move home. Why do you enjoy living here?

  1. The people are amazing

  2. Being able to enjoy the lakes in the summer

  3. Being able to spend time with my nieces & family
