The Chippewa Valley Angel Investors Network, LLC was organized in 2003 to meet a need identified in the region by providing private equity financing potential for early stage and start-up entrepreneurial ventures in the greater Chippewa Valley. Supported by Momentum West, the network is owned and operated by its member angel investors. It meets monthly to view presentations from businesses that have been pre-screened and invited to present.

By the end of 2009 the CVAIN membership has invested over $3 million in seven early stage companies in the Chippewa Valley and surrounding region, including the Twin Cities and Madison.

The Chippewa Valley Angel Investors Network is currently made up of 17 member investors. CVAIN is actively seeking growth of investment potential by inviting new accredited investors to join the network.

Angel Investors provide an important portion of the regional economic development infrastructure by providing private equity capital to bridge the gap between initial seed funding and institutional financing. Because our group is relatively small and local, it is very important to find a match between the opportunity and its management team with the financial and expertise assets of the investors to the mutual benefit of all parties. For this reason a thorough pre-screening of the venture through analysis of the business plans versus a selection criteria is performed prior to receiving an invitation to present to the group.

Criteria for Making Investments

To date the portfolio has not produced a harvest for the investors. The network typically expects an exit harvest within 3-5 years of investment.
